Meet the Team: Mataikya (Matty) Singh, Deetken Associate

March 7, 2024

For our newest Meet the Team interview, we are happy to introduce Mataikya (Matty) Singh. Matty joined Deetken in 2023 as an Associate. Since then, he has applied his skills in data analysis and data modelling to several client projects in the healthcare and social services sectors, among others.

A recent immigrant to Canada, Matty emigrated from India to pursue a Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) at the UBC Sauder School of Business and fulfill his passion for problem-solving and continuous learning. After completing his master’s degree, Matty was introduced to Deetken through a friend who spoke highly of their experience working at the company:

“They emphasized the stimulating work environment and the brilliance of the team members, which immediately resonated with what I was seeking.”

Prior to joining Deetken, Matty worked for the City of Vancouver as a data analyst on the Finance & Performance Measurement team. He also served as a consulting associate at ZS Associates in India where he worked on demand forecasting and KPI dashboards.

In addition to his MBAN from UBC, Matty holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology in India.

We’re thrilled to have Matty on the Deetken team. To learn more about his background, his path to Deetken, and his interests outside of work, read on.

1. Tell us about your background.

I began my journey in India, completing a dual undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. However, driven by my passion for problem-solving and the promise of continuous learning, I swiftly transitioned into consulting immediately after graduating.

After working in India for about a year, I ventured to Vancouver to pursue a master’s degree in Business Analytics, where I found myself captivated by the city’s charm. Upon completing my graduate studies, I eagerly sought out opportunities in consulting, ultimately finding my fit at Deetken.

2. What brought you to Deetken Insight?

My introduction to Deetken came through a friend who spoke highly of their experience working with the firm. They emphasized the stimulating work environment and the brilliance of the team members, which immediately resonated with what I was seeking.

As I immersed myself further into Deetken’s mission and values, I was profoundly impressed by the impactful projects they undertake and the dedication they exhibit. Their core values closely align with my own principles, and I was drawn to the prospect of being part of a team where I could truly take pride in my work.

Motivated by these factors, I made the decision to join Deetken Insight. Since then, I’ve been privileged to contribute to a range of inspiring projects, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue making a positive impact in this environment.

3. What do you most enjoy about your work?

As an immigrant to Canada, I’ve always felt deeply grateful to the welcoming community and its people for embracing me and providing a sense of belonging in a new land. Contributing to the betterment of public services and giving back to the community through my work has been immensely rewarding.

At Deetken, the diverse range of projects keeps me thoroughly engaged and fuels my passion for continual learning and growth. Each project and client presents unique opportunities for learning and improvement, allowing me to constantly expand my skill set. The collaborative environment fostered by our exceptional team enables me to build strong relationships with both clients and colleagues.

With a natural affinity for problem-solving and a drive to achieve results, I thrive in challenging situations. Deetken has provided me with the platform to leverage these skills and make a meaningful impact on society, fulfilling my desire to effect positive change.

4. What do you do for fun?

Outside of work, I find joy in photography, immersing myself in the captivating beauty of B.C.’s landscapes and capturing it through my camera. Additionally, I’ve recently delved into the realm of fitness, dedicating much of my weekend to activities that promote physical well-being.
