Black Lives Matter

June 10, 2020

Recent events and the protests against institutional racism and police violence that have followed have served to highlight the continued discrimination and its deeply harmful impact on members of our local and global community.

Injustice, discrimination, and racism are in direct opposition to what we value as individuals and as a company. More than ever, we are motivated to actively support the anti-discrimination movement.

Leaders in our community have called for action in this area for decades. It is long overdue that we as individuals, companies, and governments listen and do the work necessary to effect lasting change. We recognize that those of us who have benefited from systemic discrimination in our country and around the world must be willing to sacrifice our place of privilege in order to create a better world for all today and into the future.

To this end, we commit to evaluating our business practices, including the lens we place on our consulting and impact investing work and our hiring and procurement processes to ensure we are doing more than not being part of the problem but rather actively counteracting entrenched discrimination in our society.

We are also seeking to support and amplify the voices of change leaders by providing three donations, one to the Hogan’s Alley Society, a community development organization group that seeks to preserve and promote the historical, cultural, societal and economic contributions made by Black Settlers and their descendants to Vancouver and the broader region, a second to Canadian Civil Liberties Association, an organization actively combatting human rights violations, the abuse of police powers, inequality, and discrimination, and another to the YMCA’s Woodward’s and Nanook Child Care Centres which provide essential supports to children and families.
